I recently upgraded my home Wifi network from Wireless G to N by purchasing a TRENDnet TEW-633GR Wireless Router from Newegg.com Since I was upgrading the router I also needed to upgrade a few of my laptops to take advantage of the faster/better Wifi signal. For the laptops I got a TRENDnet TEW-621PC PC Card and a Rosewill RNX-N1 USB Wireless Dongle.
My first tip is this: DO NOT USE THE TRENDnet Installation Utilities to manage the PC Card use the MS Windows Wireless Network config tools.
I spent a few hours trying to get TEW-621PC to work on my wife’s HP TC-4400 TabletPC with no success. So I put the card in my Del D820 and I still could not get it working. The I found the answer on Newegg.com: “DON’T USE THEIR WIRELESS CONNECTION MANAGER! Let Windows XP manage the connection.”
Now my wife’s laptop is connected at 130Mbps vs 54Mbps.
My second tip is that you can get the TRENDnet TEW-621PC for FREE as a combo purchase with TRENDnet TEW-633GR.
