Software Developers love what they do for work and why not? They get to write software whether it’s a mundane web based sales reports or the next MySpace killer they get paid for doing what they love.
But sometines enough is enough and reguardless of how much a developers loves what he is doing he will quit.
So here is what I think are 11 reasons why Software Developers (or maybe just my self) Quit Their Jobs:
- More money and/or a better job.
- No company loyalty. No employee loyalty.
- The big-boss states, “If we don’t add these features the client will not buy the product.”
- The next day the big-boss states, “If we don’t ship this product next quarter we’re going to run out of money.”
- The next quarter the big-boss takes your department out for a huge lunch and states, “we’re out of money.”
- The CIO blames the developers for the failure of the project and claims “they’re out to get me!!”
- The company has no plans to upgrade their out-dated technologies (dev language, servers, desktops)
- You have reached the “Glass Ceiling” as the Senior Senior Developer.
- You were promised the world at the interview but it turns out to be lies and false dreams.
- Your boss has moved up in the company but refuses to let go of his application
- Your company gets bought by a larger company and well we all know what happens then.
I am sure that this list could go on (feel free to post your reason) because after being in IT for 8 years I’ve noticed that most developers and IT staff are pretty cynical folks.
