Ovi.com by Nokia is a portal for Nokia phone owners that allows the synchronization your contacts and calendar between your phone and the web.  This allows you to save your data to the web without having to connect the phone to a pc and use the Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Ovi Suite software. 

For me this is a very useful feature for many reason:

• The company I work for does not allow non-company issued devices to be plugged into company equipment. 
• If I add a calendar item on my phone I can send it directly to the Ovi site as well.
• All of my Contacts and Calendar data is backed up.

Some other key features of Ovi are Photo/Video sharing and unlimited storage. Access to (yet another) email account with @ovi.com domain name.  *Choose your username wisely because you cannot change it once it is set.*

If you have a Nokia E71 you can take advantage of the Ovi software store but if you have a AT&T Nokia E71x you are stuck with the MEdia Net service/store.

If you live in the EU you can use the Nokia Music service.
